I know its passed my bed time...

But I couldn't sleep.   I drew these rough sketches for a character  want to animate.  Then i stayed up later than I should have and did a little bit of color.  These aren't final just thinking through about what it is he does and what kind if story will go best with the dialogue that I have.  So hopefully Ill post some more developed sketches up very soon.

Man happily watches his dog!

So if you know me you know Im not too fond of children. There really is only one Little girl in My Heart and its my goddaughter Brooke. Heres a sketch I did while thinking of what being old would be like. Would I really let things like this happen? Im sure some of you have had moments when children really piss you off or annoy you...Lets hear about em.!!

Mixed bag of Nuts!

Heres a bit of mix up for you guys.  These are drawings that I did whhile in public places.  Either on the bus, train, at a coffee shop or just sitting on a park bench in the sunshine with a lemonade in my hand.     I ll post more often...I  will.

This first one was done in pencil and marker then touched up in photoshop.

I really love drawing old men.  They have so much character and life to them that some people dont see. I know some can be slow and blind, but some still have lots of energy as if they were 15 years younger.  pencil and marker.

Man on the bus with pen.

Homies at the bus stop.   Now Im not making this one up.  I saw this guy with his pants too low and his shirt too long, his hair too big and his eyes rolled back.  Intoxicated or not, he was a cool guy to draw.

Knight

This is a sheriff that I really wanted to make look like a superhero.  I mean hes not you ordinary hero but probably cooler than Hancock....uh  I mean Will Smiths Hero.

And Lastly just a simple drawing of a man who was reading.

Banana Mural

So I work at Banana Republic.   I know its not an art job but...I gotta pay the bills.

But they paid me to do a painting on the wall in the break room.  I came up with about 3 ideas and they chose wich one they liked.  Here it is and my process of how it went.  I used only wall paint from benjamin moore.  It was not the easiest to work with but hey it got the job done.  Tell me what you think.  This took me about 10 hours including all the prep and final touches.  Enjoy!

This is what it looked like before.

After!

More boxers

I am really enjoying drawing boxers.  Drawing them gives me a feeling of empowerment and strength.  Boxing is  a brutal sport and yet it takes a physically strong and a mentally strong man to become one.  Not only must they train for more strength but also more speed and more "armor"  knowing that their bodies will also be taking a beating.  Only in competition is is a boxer content.  I will bring to you as many drawings of boxers as I can in the future.   And maybe share some things about my father.

For now here are some quick sketches.

100th Post!!

Hey Guys I know its been a whole month since I have posted anything. And I just want to say that I am extremely Sorry! I have really been swamped with this my new character design Job at Autumn Moon Ent. I Really wish I could show the Fun characters that were working on...but I guess everyone will just have to wait till the game is out. Sorry!

I took the time to do some drawing for myself and just for the 100th post celebration, I have Given my blog a new look.

So here are some drawings that I have done. Some just fun, some to show the way that i go through my design process.

I really wanted to make this post special, because it is the hundredth post, but mainly to make up for the lack of them in the last month.

Enjoy...
Fabian !

This is the final Image. Its just a quick ruff painting.. no more than an hour in PS. I really love to draw boxers, most of the reason is because my father used to be a professional boxer...yes he was on ESPN, but aside from that there are so many great characters that can be drawn especially with beat up mangled faces. Meatheads!

Here is an inked version I did, just to tighten up the drawing a bit. I didnt use it for the color but just as an afterthought. Good Line quality is something I always try to acheive.

This is my sketch that was pretty ruff... it took me a while to get the legs how i wanted them. hence the eraser smudges all over the place.
Here are some ruff faces and expressions of ideas i had for boxers. I like most of them, but the one I finally chose is the one that stood out to me the most.
Here is an updated color comp for my short that I am working on...yes its still in progress!
And Lastly, a girl from photo reference, really fast in pen

Ruff Stuff

Here is a couple quick drawings I did at the quick study workshop at the AAU. They only took a few minutes. One is partially constructed and the gesture is there but the scanner did not pick it up. The Character drawings are ones that I had done a while back and just found again.... Sorry about the bad quality the scanner I used is not working too well...Ah well, you get the picture!
GO Draw!
