Sketch Tuesday

I know Im a week late. But last Tuesday was Sketch Tuesday at 111 Minna Gallery. Heres one of the sketches that I came away with that night. It was done in about 10 minutes while I was people watching.

I try and go drawing on my lunch breaks at work. Its not always possible but here are a couple pages from last week. Because who doesn't like a woman in flats?

Leftovers...Again?!

So here we are. FInally coming to a wrap with a few of the projects that I have been working on after work.There lots of things going on and lots more to do (as always). But forge on I must. I remeber someone telling me that when one door closes another one opens. I feel the same about the projects that I work on. When one finishes up, that makes time for another. Never stop the hustle!

Heres whats up -

Fist off I am pleased to say that I was invited top take part in the "Leftovers Lounge" Anthology With some friends of mine. Our first publication will make its premier at Wondercon on April 2nd. (which I hope you all are going to attend!) . Heres the cover to the book. Art done by Guilluermo Martinez and Joao. Every one did an outstanding job with their stories. YOu can see a sample of mine below. But if you wanna see the whole thing,....then you should stop by at wondercon!

Speaking of wondercon - April 2nd to April 4th. Ill be there selling some of the NEW "Leftovers lounge" books and of course "Sketch or Die". My booth number is D12.

Hmmm...whats next on the list... ah yes! I am pleased to announce the ........."Sketch or Die" I phone App. Its still in the review process so it will be a couple of weeks before you guys can buy it officially from the App store. But for now I hope these screen shots make you Happy!

Fresh new cintiq

Hey guys! So I'm really concentrating on a couple things right now an work is one of them. The others are animation and the convention season coming up. To help me with all of this I purchased a new cintiq. And I must say that this product is definitely worth every penny. It's amazing what the difference is compared to a tablet. The feeling of pen and paper has never been duplicated an most likely never will.... But the ciniq comes damn close!

Here's my first sketch on it! It's a caricature of my roommate JC Porras.

Leftovers LOUNGE! Some amazing students at the Academy of art are putting together a collaborative project. The end product will be a book of great stories written and illustrated by some talented folks here in the animation department of the school! Heres what Is a sample of what I have been working on during the after hours of work. To get a full copy of the story and the book come visit me at wondercon. Whens wonndercon you ask?!

Work has been taking lots of my time lately and other than that I have a couple of cool projects up my sleeve that Im doing in time for wondercon! T.E.S. Clothing Interview

Hey Guys. Sorry no new artwork for now. I have been pretty busy with my new job these days. But as I said in an earlier post Im designing The Endangered Species Clothing Company's Spring T-shirt line and Its gonna be GREAT!. Characters from life@

So I know many of you have heard of character design from life from people like Stephen Silver, Mark McDonnell, and Mike Mattesi. These guys have it down!~

Simply put, when a model is in front of you, create a character from it. Create a story for it to live in and keep drawing that character for every pose your model decides to go into. This can be done with a clothed, or a nude model. Its all about what you see and what moves you about the model.

So Heres a series of drawings from life. Character was my number one goal and of course putting the force and rhythm into it as well.
